New Venture Theatre - Bold Girls

For the production of Bold Girls, Zoe and I have so far attended two more rehearsals in which we got to know what our responsibilities are. We are responsible far setting the stage before each show and changing the set during the performance. We are also responsible for making sure the props table is set up correctly before each show. As you cannot see the stage at all from backstage we are also responsible for cuing the actors as we are again in communication with the Box.
Last Sunday (1st Nov) we attended the Tech run for the show which ran all day and any problems that had not been noticed during rehearsals were sorted. On Monday the 2nd it was the first dress rehearsal which ran very smoothly and the on Thursday is the final Dress rehearsal before the Press Preview on Friday and then opening night is on Saturday.

Stars in their eyes - 3rd Nov

On the 3rd of November we were working as part of the stage management team for Stars in their eyes. Our original roles were changed slightly on the day because it was a variety show, so had different requirements. I was on SR for the duration of the show, in communication with the DSM and the Box to let the DSM know when the acts were ready and make sure everything was running smoothly on our side. It was a fairly simple show and ran pretty uneventfully on the night.

Update

We recently received our positions for the next few shows running up to the Christmas break. I will be working as the Stage manager on the first show, Stars in Their Eyes on the 3rd of November. In preparation for this Zoe, Steph, Andy and myself went to find the director, Mr Warsmley, to find out if he wanted any help with anything and to let him know that we were around if he needed our help. I am also working on lighting for the Winter Concert.
Zoe and I have also joined an amateur theater company called the New Venture Theatre. We have been asked to be ASM's for the upcoming show Bold Girls which is running from the 7th to the 14th of November. So far on this production we have attended a rehearsal to get an overview of the play. Tonight (October 28th) we are going again to find out our responsibilities. I will update you again when I know more.
